Frequently Asked Tattoo Questions

Keep it clean, let it breathe and moisturized. If you have any questions about your tattoo aftercare, please don´t hesitate to contact us.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, Wise, local bank transfer and cash.

Appointments are recommended We prefer bookings for larger tattoos, we do welcome walk-ins for smaller tattoos. Feel free to visit our studio, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

For tattoo bookings, we require a minimum deposit of 1.000.000IDR to secure the artist for the time slot. This deposit is non-refundable and will be applied towards the total price of your booking. The deposit accounts for the time and resources invested by our artists in designing, preparing tattoo stations, and arranging materials, which would otherwise be wasted in the event of a cancellation.

Stay Hydrated: Get hydrated. Drink at least one (1) to two (2) liters of water a day. When you are hydrated, your skin is hydrated and will be able to maintain a better heal and withstand longer sessions.

Skincare: Lotion the area to be tattooed once or twice daily. Again, the healthier your skin, the better the results. Shave and exfoliate the area 1-3 times weekly. If you are super hairy, this will really make a big difference. It’s hard for lotion to reach the surface of your skin otherwise. If you experience razor burn, stop shaving a week prior to your appointment. Exfoliation should be gentle with a loofah or basic body scrub.

Stay Rested: Get a good night sleep the night before. Please don’t party too hard. Getting tattooed hung-over is not fun for you or me.

Eat/Drink: PLEASE EAT BEFORE YOUR SESSION. Not eating greatly increases your chances of passing out. This is a massive workout for your body and IT NEEDS FUEL, especially for a big session. When you are hungry, pain management is much more difficult. For longer sessions bring drinks and snacks. You probably won’t have enough time during our short breaks to leave, get food, come back and eat it.

What you SHOULD NOT DO before a tattoo session Skin Treatments: No tanning, fake tanning, chemical peels, sunburns, major cuts or scrapes, in the area to be tattooed. Lift Weights: No extreme weight lifting in or near the area to be tattooed at least 2 days prior to your session to prevent unnecessary swelling & soreness.

The day of: Friends/Family: Please do not bring the entire family or crew unless they are also getting tattooed. They usually get bored or they get in the way. One or two people is okay but please be aware that they must wait in the designated waiting areas and must be invited to view ongoing tattoos by an artist.

Children: For safety reasons, please do not bring small children or babies.

Clothing: Dress comfortably and appropriately. Be prepared for it to be cold & warm. Also bring socks or flip flops to prevent walking around the studio barefoot during breaks if you will be taking your shoes off during your session.

Pillow: You are also invited to bring your own pillow for laying or sitting on during your tattoo.

Entertainment: Bring some form of entertainment for yourself like a book, phone, tablet, laptop, portable DVD player, etc. with your own headphones or ear buds.

Time: Please do not schedule something immediately after your tattoo in case we are running behind or long.

Sobriety: Do not come in under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

Go home! The bigger the tattoo the more important it is to give your body time to rest and to start the self-healing of your skin. Tonight, is not the time for a big party night out!
SecondSkin is a medical-grade, transparent adhesive bandage that protects new tattoos while they are healing. Your bandage can be left on for up to 5 days after it has been applied to your new tattoo. It is waterproof, breathable and protects the tattoo from bacteria, debris, and irritations, while also helping to save clothes and linens from ink and blood. It is completely normal for your tattoo to weep fluid beneath your bandage in the first 24-48 hours. This does not mean that you need to remove the bandage. If you notice excessive fluid or the bandage becomes detached from the skin exposing the tattoo, discontinue use, wash with mild soap and follow the Traditional Aftercare Instructions below.
  1. On the fifth day of having your bandage on, it will be time to remove it. Peel up an edge or corner of SecondSkin back over itself in the direction of hair growth. Pulling upward can be painful. Rarely, some people will find it difficult to remove, in this case try removing in a warm shower. The warm water will loosen the adhesive and make it easier to remove.
  1. Slowly pull the SecondSkin off. Do not pull it straight up away from the skin. Instead, pull the film back and across the skin while holding your skin taut.
  1. Wash tattoo thoroughly with warm water and antibacterial soap and pat dry with a clean paper towel.
  1. Once tattoo is clean and dry, apply a thin layer of unscented lotion to your tattoo as needed.

You may experience some redness around the tattoo where SecondSkin was applied to the un-tattooed skin. This is completely normal and may occur with any type of medical adhesive.

If you develop a serious reaction, discontinue use immediately and follow traditional aftercare.

Open the plastic wrapping after 2 hours or after you come home. You want to protect your new tattoo from dirt, pollution, and germs for the first hours, but then it is important to open the plastic. Your skin cannot breathe under the wrapping, and it starts sweating. Warm and sweaty wounds are a wonderful surrounding for unwanted bacteria. Also, the sweat will transfer the ink out of the skin. It fades. Do not wrap your tattoo again.

Wash your tattoo after removing the wrap. In Bali the quality of the tap water is unstable so we recommend rinsing the area with bottled water. Remove dried blood and ink carefully, but don’t soak your tattoo in water. You can use only clear water or mild, un-fragranced soap like green soap. Dry your tattoo after cleaning it. Use a clean towel or paper towel. Gently tab it dry. No rubbing!

After 36 hours you can apply a tattoo aftercare product. Make sure your tattoo is completely dry. Wash your hands and apply a thin layer of aftercare product, but don’t overdo it, if you apply a thick layer of aftercare product the skin cannot breathe anymore.  That has a negative effect on the healing process and the ink easily comes out of the skin. A good aftercare product has an antiseptic effect, supports wound healing and keeps the wound moisturized to reduce scrapes and protects them from cracking. We offer Delab Balm Tattoo (from the USA) in our shop.

• Don’t expose to the sun! Really don’t do it! Keep your tattoo covered and in the shade. Intense sunlight increases fading of ink (not only on new tattoos) Do not apply sunscreen on a tattoo in a healing process. In general, you should keep a new tattoo completely protected from the sun for at least three to four weeks.

• Don’t go swimming! Water can contain bacteria which can cause inflammation and it can have a negative effect on the healing process. You can have a quick shower, but you cannot go swimming neither in the sea nor pool until the tattoo is completely healed.  Avoid prolonged soaking or submerging your tattoo in water for 3-4 weeks.

• Wash your hands, always before touching your new tattoo.

• Repeat the aftercare until the tattoo is fully healed. Do it twice a day. If it got dirty, give it an extra round of cleaning and aftercare product.

• Don’t pick at the flaking/scabbing skin! It causes delay of healing, fading of colors, scars and increase the chances of infection.

• Don’t overdo it with sports, don’t wear tight clothes, don’t touch the tattoo with dirty hands, don’t shave the tattooed area.
